Congress Sarpanch Candidate Election Code Violations In Kollapur

Kollapur: BRS leaders are alleging that supporters of the ruling party Congress are arbitrarily violating the Election Code in the Panchayat elections in the Kolhapur constituency of Nagarkurnool district. In a bid to bolster the allegations of the opposition parties, a flex banner of Sarpanch Candidate Menawat Ramudu Naik, who is in the fray with the support of the Congress party, was seen in the Bodabanda Thanda Gram Panchayat of Kolhapur mandal. The opposition parties are alleging that the flex banners were put up to clearly show that the Election Code does not apply to them as they are in power and that they are violating the Election Code. Incidents of Congress threatening and attacking Sarpanch candidates and sympathizers who are already contesting the local body elections in the constituency have come to light.
BRS leaders have accused the ruling Congress supporters of violating the election code of conduct after it became clear that people were turning their backs on the false promises made before the elections. When ‘Namaste Telangana’ sought an explanation from local MPDO Venkateswara Rao on the violation of the election code in Bodabanda Thanda Gram Panchayat, he said that he did not know whether the establishment of flexi falls under the election code of conduct and that he would ask the higher authorities to find out. He said that he would send the village secretary to Bodabanda Thanda Gram Panchayat, where the election violation is believed to have occurred, to find out the details. Bodabanda Thanda Sarpanch candidate and former MPTC Shankar Nayak demanded that the Election Commission take action against Congress party supporter Sarpanch candidate Menawat Ramudu Nayak, who violated the election code and established flexi.
