SSP Sgr announces to end drug ecosystem in 100 days

Srinagar: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr Sandeep Chakravarthy on Monday said that a strict zero-tolerance approach against drugs will dismantle the narcotics ecosystem in the district within the next 100 days.
Speaking at a function held at Amar Singh College here, the SSP said the initiative is part of a focused 100-day action programme under the ‘Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan’, which he described as a “national mission” rather than a routine campaign.
He said the programme, envisioned by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aims to eliminate the drug menace through a well-coordinated strategy involving police, civil departments and the community at large.
“J&K Police have full clarity and a firm resolve. This is not just an awareness drive but a strategic action plan. In the next three months, visible results will be on the ground,” Dr Chakravarthy said.
Highlighting ongoing efforts, he said Srinagar Police have already intensified operations against drug peddlers and users, adding that sustained enforcement and preventive measures will continue during the campaign period.
The SSP stressed that tackling substance abuse requires collective responsibility, calling upon parents, students and educational institutions to actively participate. “This is not just a policing issue but a societal challenge. We must fight it together,” he said.
