108 emergency ambulance teams will be deployed in 42 districts of the city on Makar Sankranti.
Vadodara: During the Makarsankranti (Uttarayan) festival, cases of people falling from rooftops while flying kites, getting their throats cut by sharp strings or falling seriously injured while flying kites are reported every year. This time too, if such incidents are less, 42 108 emergency ambulance teams will be deployed in the city district to provide immediate treatment and transport the injured to hospitals, it is learned.
On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a total of seven ambulances of 1962 EMRI Green Health Service have also been allotted under the Karuna campaign for the treatment of mute animals and birds injured by kite strings and kites. Meanwhile, along with Chinese lanterns and nylon cords used on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, they are also becoming very dangerous. There have been incidents of fire caused by Chinese lanterns and fatal incidents of throat slitting and bleeding caused by synthetic manja, Chinese and nylon strings.
Purchase, storage, sale and use of such sharp wires is also prohibited. Vadodara Municipal Corporation has formed teams in coordination with the police department to take action against any trader or consumer violating this prohibited act. The corporation said, these teams will do field work and take legal action as per the rules.
