15 day special campaign to stop illegal drug trade, Bikaner

Jaipur : On the instructions of Medical and Health Minister Shri Gajendra Singh, a 15-day special campaign is being run from March 4 to March 18, 2024 to stop illegal drug trade and misuse across the state. In this campaign, which is going on under the supervision of Assistant Drug Controllers, the drug control officers are thoroughly investigating the drug dealers involved in the drug trade and taking action.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Mrs. Shubhra Singh said that recently, Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma had given instructions to take strict action to effectively stop the illegal drug trade in the state to save the young generation from drug addiction. . In view of this, a 15-day campaign has been launched as per the instructions of the Medical Minister.
Inspection of 200 drug selling firms in the first phase
Under this campaign, stock of medicines worth about Rs 35 lakh has been seized in Bikaner, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts and licenses of 59 chemists have been suspended, licenses of 02 chemists have been canceled and medicines containing NDPS components have been confiscated from 32 chemists. The endorsement permit has been withdrawn. In the first phase of the campaign, 200 drug selling firms were inspected, out of which pharmacists were found absent in 33 drug shops and sale bills of medicines containing NDPS component were not presented by 112 drug sellers.

On the complaint of Mr. Pankaj Gehlot, Drug Control Officer, Jodhpur, police station Chaupasni Housing Board, Jodhpur City West took action and seized the stock of medicine containing NDPS component from the possession of accused Mr. Sanjay Tyagi, lodged an FIR and arrested him. The stock of medicines was seized by Ms. Amandeep, Drug Control Officer, Sriganganagar from the possession of Mr. Rahul, the owner of a firm operating without a drug license and custody orders were obtained from the court.
Drug Controller, Shri Ajay Phatak has instructed drug sellers to sell medicines containing NDPS component only on doctor’s prescription. Also, instructions have been given to issue the sales bill in the name of the patient. Complaints against persons/firms involved in drug trade can be made on SOG’s toll free number 155249 and to the Assistant Drug Controller in the districts.
