15 lakh live pangolin recovered, three smugglers caught
Kanker. The forest department has arrested three accused of smuggling live pangolin under Kapasi forest area of the district. All the three arrested accused are residents of the neighboring state of Maharashtra. The forest department has recovered live pangolin from the accused. The weight of this pangolin is 11 kg 500 grams. Whose estimated cost is 15 lakh rupees.
The three accused were trying to sell a pangolin weighing 11 kg 500 grams. That’s why the officers of Kapasi Forest Department laid siege and caught the three accused from Matoli Chowk in Pakhanjur. The health test of the pangolin has been done by the veterinary officer. The price of the recovered pangolin is said to be Rs 15 lakh. Which has been left in the forest area today.
Pangolin is found in hilly or light plain areas of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and India. In India it is also called Sallu snake. It is an extinct and rare species of creature. Which is mostly found in Asia and Africa. Due to its price in the international market in crores of rupees, pangolins are smuggled fiercely.
