15 PFI members get death sentence in BJP leader Ranjit Srinivasan’s murder case
Thiruvananthapuram: Mavelikkara Additional Sessions Court has awarded death sentence to 15 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the murder case of BJP leader Ranjith Srinivasan. All the accused are workers of PFI and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
The sentence was pronounced by Mavelikkara Additional District Judge VG Sridevi.
The court accepted the prosecution’s argument that this was the rarest of rare cases. Pratap G Padikkal is the special public prosecutor in this case.
Pratap G Padikkal said, “The court has awarded death sentence to 15 accused, accepting the prosecution’s argument that this is the rarest of rare cases. Rs 6 lakh will be recovered as fine and will be given to his wife and children ” The evidence provided by the prosecution has been accepted.”
The first eight accused, Nizam, Ajmal, Anoop, Muhammad Aslam, Salam Ponnad, Abdul Salam, Safruddin and Manshad, were found guilty of murder.
The incident occurred on December 21, 2021, in Alappuzha. BJP OBC Morcha State Secretary Ranjit Srinivasan was murdered by a group in front of his mother, wife and minor daughter. This happened hours after the murder of SDPI leader Shan in Alappuzha.
