150 calls not answered, policeman came from 230KM distance to beat his wife

Bengaluru: A police constable, overwhelmed by suspicion about his wife’s loyalty, resorted to a tragic act after making around 150 unsuccessful calls to her. When his wife failed to respond to his calls, his suspicions grew. In a regrettable turn of events, he took a drastic step and took the life of his wife.

It’s important to note that the woman had recently given birth to a baby boy at her parents’ residence. Frustrated by his repeated unanswered calls, the husband, residing in Chamarajanagar city, traveled a distance of 230 km to reach his wife’s ancestral home near Hoskote. Here, he consumed pesticide and strangled his wife to death on a Monday morning.

The deceased, 24-year-old Prathiba, had given birth to a son just 11 days prior in Kalathur village near Hoskote. The accused, Kishore D, who lived in the Ramsamudra area within the jurisdiction of Chamarajanagar East Police Station, is in critical condition. He had admitted himself to RL Jalappa Hospital in Tamaka, Kolar. The Hoskote police have referred him to another hospital, and he will be taken into custody once he is discharged.

Pratibha was the younger daughter of Subramani, the secretary of Bettahalasur Gram Panchayat, and held a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. The couple got married on November 13, 2022, and Kishore hails from Veerpura in the Kolar district.

The police report indicates that Kishore had grown suspicious of Pratibha’s behavior. He regularly monitored her messages and call records, questioning anyone who contacted her or inquired about her past. Additionally, he accused his wife of spending time with some of her male college friends.

On a Sunday evening, Kishore called Pratibha and berated her over a certain issue, causing her to cry. In response, his mother, Venkatalakshamma, took the phone and ended the call, advising Pratibha not to answer Kishore’s calls to protect the well-being of her newborn baby. The next morning, Pratibha shared with her parents that Kishore had called her 150 times.

According to the police, on Monday around 11:30 am, Kishore arrived at Pratibha’s ancestral home. Upon his arrival, Venkatalakshamma was heading to the terrace, while Pratibha and the baby were on the first floor of the house. The teenager consumed pesticide first and then locked himself inside. He tragically ended Pratibha’s life by strangling her with a scarf. Venkatalakshamma returned downstairs and knocked on the door, receiving no response. Fearing the worst, she continued knocking and implored Kishore to open the door. After a 15-minute delay, he finally opened the door and confessed to Venkatalakshamma, saying, “I killed her, I killed her,” before fleeing the scene.
