1989 batch IPS B.Radhika included in Odisha cadre
Bhubaneswar: 1989 batch IPS B.Radhika has joined the Odisha cadre, reliable reports said on Wednesday.
Credible reports said, B.Radhika met Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and Home Secretary Devranjan Kumar Singh at Lok Seva Bhawan and reported for duty. It is noteworthy that, B.Radhika is one of the possible choices in the race for the next DGP.
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal’s tenure ended on November 18, with the state government reportedly allowing him to retire from government services.
According to the notification issued by the Home Department, the state government has allowed DGP Sunil Bansal to retire as per his superannuation age on December 31, 2023.
“Shri Sunil Kumar Bansal, IPS (RR-1987), D.G. Police Officer, (HOPF), Odisha is permitted to retire from Government services with effect from 31.12.2023 AN on completion of his two-year tenure as DGP (HOPF), Odisha,” read the notification.
The 1987 batch IPS officer took charge as the new Director General of Police on December 31, 2021. He had replaced Abhay.
Bansal had served as Mayurbhanj SP between 15 May 1992 to 22 January 1994 and Vigilance SP in Sambalpur from 30 January 1994 to 26 September 1994 before going on central deputation for nearly 27 years. After returning from central deputation, he was posted as DGP.
Meanwhile, there is speculation that the state government has finalized the names of five IPS officers – B.Radhika, YB Khurania, AM Prasad, Arun Sarangi and Sudhanshu Sarangi – on the basis of seniority and will send the list to the Union Public Service. . Commission (UPSC) after which the new DGP will be appointed.
