2 smugglers smuggling ganja worth lakhs arrested
Ambikapur. Two accused were arrested while smuggling ganja. Taking joint action by Gandhinagar police station and special police team, about 23 kg of ganja worth about Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand and the motorcycle used in the incident were recovered from the possession of the accused. On October 30, the Gandhinagar police station team received information from the informer that two suspicious youths were coming from Latoree Road towards Ambikapur with a large quantity of ganja on a motorcycle for sale.
The police team immediately identified the suspects, cordoned them off near the Chathirama barrier and interrogated them. The suspects gave their name as Sonu Patel, age 25, resident of Injani district Balrampur, Mohd. Rajun Mansoori alias Raju, age 48 years, resident of Madhya Pradesh, resident of Ambikapur, is said to be. On searching both the suspected youths, about 23 kg of illegal drug Ganja worth about Rs 350000/- and the motorcycle used in the incident were recovered.
When the accused were interrogated regarding the incident, they admitted to causing the incident, and after finding evidence of crime against the accused, Gandhinagar police station registered a case under Section 20 (B) (77) (C) N. D.P.S. The offense under the Act has been registered and the accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
