2 to 3 groups of terrorists still active in Poonch, Rajouri districts: J&K Police
Jammu (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that two to three groups of terrorists are still active in Poonch and Rajouri districts and security forces are engaged in eliminating them.
ADGP (Jammu) Mukesh Singh in a joint press conference held after the killing of a terrorist in Rajouri district said that one terrorist has been killed during this operation while the other is still being traced.
He told that when the local police surrounded these terrorists, the terrorists started firing. After this, the army and paramilitary forces also joined this operation to deal with them.
He further added, “One unidentified terrorist has been killed while the other is still being traced. Articles recovered from the slain terrorist indicate that he is a Pakistani.
An AK-47 rifle, five magazines, four hand grenades and a bag with Pakistani markings were recovered from the terrorist.
Mukesh Singh said, “The bag of the second militant has also been recovered.” The ADGP said two to three groups are still active in Poonch and Rajouri. “They are being traced and will be neutralized,” he added.
The GOC of Kilo Force of the army said that peace would be maintained in the area with the cooperation of the local people.
He said that night vision equipment and high quality weapons are working for the security forces in achieving their objectives.
