Tamil Nadu: Labour Department warns companies against not granting election holidays

Tamil Nadu: The Labor Welfare Department has announced that a control room has been opened in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to handle complaints against companies that do not provide paid leave on the day of the Assembly elections.

A press release issued by the Labor Welfare Department stated: Assembly elections will be held in Tamil Nadu on April 23rd and in Puducherry on April 9th. On both days, all unorganized workers in industrial areas, IT companies, shops, commercial establishments, food establishments, and all public sector employees in Tamil Nadu should be granted leave to go to their constituencies and vote. Appropriate action will be taken against companies that do not provide paid leave.

The Labor Department has opened control rooms at the state and district levels to register complaints.
