25 clothes shops burnt to ashes in fire in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Around 25 clothes shops were burnt to ashes in a fire that broke out at a market in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar during Diwali celebrations on Friday, police said. No one was injured in the incident, but clothes were damaged due to the fire, a senior official said. “Around 25 clothes shops were badly damaged in a fire that broke out in the underground market in Unit-1 Market Building area late on Diwali night,” he said. Five fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire and it took five hours to douse the blaze, the official said. He said preliminary reports revealed that the fire broke out in a saree shop and spread to nearby shops. It was difficult for firefighters to control the fire as the underground market was closed on both sides, an official said.
