25 Killed In Goa Nightclub Fire Accident After Cylinder Blast

Panaji: A major fire accident took place in North Goa. A cylinder blast broke out at a nightclub called Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora village at midnight, killing 25 people and injuring around 50 others. On receiving information, fire brigade personnel and police rushed to the spot and took up rescue operations. Police said that three women and four tourists were among the deceased. The rest were identified as club staff.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the scene of the incident. He expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He said that a detailed investigation will be conducted into the accident. He said that strict action will be taken against the accused. He said that action will also be taken against the officials who allowed the club to run. He said that three of the deceased were burnt alive and 20 died of suffocation. It was revealed that it is initially known that safety regulations were not followed in the club.
MLA Lobo said that the bodies have been recovered and shifted to the local government hospital. He said that inspections will be conducted on all the night clubs in the area. The MLA said that the licenses of clubs without permits will be cancelled. Meanwhile, the nightclub where the accident took place is 25 km away from the capital Panaji. Officials said that it was opened last year.
