25 tons of iron rods looted, CG police raided Jharkhand and Odisha and arrested 3 accused
Raigarh. On the instructions given by Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel to trace the culprits in property related crimes, the team of Cyber Cell and Dharamjaigarh Police have achieved unprecedented success in the case of looting 25 tons of TMT iron rods from a truck driver. The police team has arrested the main conspirator involved in the looting of the truck driver, one of his associates and the buyer of the stolen property, a hardware businessman, from whom 21 tons of iron rods looted, tractor used in the incident, Alto car, 02 motorcycles, 03 mobiles and the amount of distribution in the loot of about ₹ 5000 have been recovered. The accused have been arrested by Dharamjaigarh Police for the crime of robbery and sent on remand.
Crime registered in Dharamjaigarh Police Station – Regarding the incident, on 23.06.2024, Abhishek Upadhyay (age 21 years) of HRA Department of Shri Rupanadham Steel Pvt. Ltd. Company Punjipathra located in village Saraipali Gerwani lodged a report that on 22/06/2024, driver Mujahid Khan loaded 8mm, 10mm, 12mm Maruti TMT total weight 25 tonnes 50 kg iron rods from the steel plant and left for Ramanujnagar, Surajpur in truck number CG 15 AC-1490. The driver last told that he had reached Dharamjaigarh Sisringa Valley, after which his mobile was switched off. On the report of robbery of iron rods loaded in the said truck, Crime No. 169/2024 was registered against unknown person and taken into investigation.
Investigation and raid by police team- Dharamjaigarh police station in-charge took the statement of truck driver Mujahid Khan and Khalasi after questioning them in which they told that incident happened on 22nd June, 4 km before Dharamjaigarh Sisringa Ghat, 4 unknown persons stopped their car in front of truck, made driver get down from truck, beat him and snatched his mobile and threw it away. While beating him they took him in black colour car with his hands and eyes blindfolded and looted and brought the truck full of iron rods behind them. After driving continuously for 4-5 hours, the accused kept him hostage in a room in a deserted forest for the whole day and on 23rd June at around 09:15 pm they left him blindfolded on the roadside in Karamdih, Odisha. After some time they brought the looted empty truck no. CG 15 AC-1490 and threatened him to run away or else they will kill him and throw him away and ran away.
On the seriousness of the case, SP Shri Divyang Patel has issued additional warrant. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ramgopal Karire, a team of DSP Siddhant Tiwari, TI Dharamjaygarh Kamla Pusam and Cyber Cell was formed under the leadership of Cyber DSP Abhinav Upadhyay and instructions were given regarding immediate search of the culprit. Keeping in mind the facts told by the truck driver, TI Kamla Pusam analyzed the crimes committed earlier in the police station and the modus operandi of the accused of this robbery, in which she got information about the involvement of suspect Lokesh Yadav in this robbery. Which was confirmed by informers. On the date of the incident, accused Lokesh Yadav was with his fellow accused Rupesh Yadav. Moving forward on this big lead, DSP Abhinav and his team raided Sundargarh in Odisha and Simdega in Jharkhand to arrest the accused and accused Rupesh Yadav resident of Lassiamba police station Tapkara Jashpur was caught.
Accused Rupesh Yadav told that he along with his friends Lokesh Yadav, Deepu Yadav, Raju Yadav sat in Sahu Hotel of Gharghoda on 22nd June and made a plan that if any truck carrying iron rods passes by, they will loot it and take it away and executed the incident with complete planning. The looted 25 tons of iron rods were unloaded from the tractor by their friend Mr. Jinha Khan, who was already ready in village Bandega, and sold the iron rods to Ganesh Gupta, a businessman of rods and cement hardware of Talsara Odisha, for Rs. 6,50,000. The said iron rods were found kept in his house, which were duly seized and brought to the police station. Sections 395, 397, 365, 120B, 412, Arms Act 25, 27 IPC have been added in the case as per evidence.
