28 kg ganja seized from railway station, smugglers caught during checking
Bilaspur. The GRP team has arrested two smugglers carrying ganja from capital Raipur to Uttar Pradesh. Both the accused were preparing to smuggle ganja from Sarnath Express. During the investigation, the team has recovered more than 28 kg of ganja from two trolley bags from them. Smugglers were bringing the ganja from Odisha. Railway’s SRP JR Thakur has formed an anti-crime team to prevent smuggling of marijuana and intoxicants in trains. The team has been given the responsibility of monitoring the trains. Along with this, they have been asked to arrest illegal arms smugglers operating in trains. The team members were checking in and around Raipur railway station on Tuesday night when they found two suspects. On searching his bag, ganja was found in different packets.
The GRP team inquired, then it was found that Mahadev Kumar (30) father Lakshmi Kumar and Raja Banjara (19) father Krishna Banjara are residents of Nahrampur in Odisha. Both had come to Raipur with ganja from Odisha, from where they were about to go to Agra in Uttar Pradesh with ganja in Sarnath Express. The GRP seized the ganja from him and took action under the NDPS Act. At the same time, after interrogating both the accused, she is collecting information about the smugglers.
