3 auto drivers caught for snatching gold chain worth Rs 1.75 lakh from businessman
Mira-Bhayandar: Less than 72 hours after robbing a Gujarat businessman while traveling to Mumbai, three autorickshaw drivers were in the custody of Kashimira police on Wednesday. On a business trip to Mumbai, complainant Jignesh Goswami, 35, had stayed at a lodge in Kashimira.
After having dinner at a restaurant on the highway at around 10:45 pm on December 9, Jignesh boarded an autorickshaw and went towards the lodge.

Apparently two bikers who were following them stopped the auto-rickshaw midway and started accusing Jignesh of possessing drugs. Despite claiming ignorance, the duo forcefully snatched her gold chain worth ₹1.75 lakh and fled from the spot. The offense was registered under section 392 at Kashimira police station.
Police is taking the help of CCTV to catch the accused
A team under the supervision of senior police inspector Sandeep Kadam began the investigation by scanning CCTV cameras installed at the crime scene and possible escape routes. The team identified the driver on the basis of the number plate of the auto-rickshaw captured in the CCTV camera.
During interrogation, the police suspected the involvement of a driver named Pradeep Savadkar, 29, who confessed to the crime, which he had committed along with his two accomplices Ziaullah Khan alias Sonu, 26, and 38-year-old Jiyaullah Khan alias Sonu. Arshad Khan Both were auto-rickshaw drivers who used to become robbers at night. All three were arrested, police recovered stolen goods from their possession and seized the auto-rickshaw and motorcycle. While not ruling out their involvement in more such crimes, PSI-Shivaji Khade said that further investigation in the case is underway.
