30 kg ganja seized in Assam, three arrested

Guwahati (IANS). The Assam Police on Saturday arrested three suspected drug dealers in Guwahati and seized 30 kg of ganja from their possession.

Based on specific intelligence, a Special Task Force (STF) and police team launched a joint operation in Khanapara area of the city, a police officer said.

“The value of the seized drugs is around Rs 15 lakh in the foreign market,” the official said.

The police further claimed that the cache of narcotics was being moved from Karimganj district to Baihata Chariali in Kamrup near the Bangladesh border.

“The apprehended persons and the seized ganja were handed over to the Guwahati Police for investigation by registering a case under appropriate sections of law,” a STF statement said.
