36 hours waterless fast begins with Kharna Puja
Korea. On Saturday, the second and third day of the great festival of folk faith, Chhath, Chhath devotees made Prasad after taking bath in ponds, reservoirs and rivers at Municipal Council Shivpur Charcha Kalri. In the evening, in a calm atmosphere, the religious ritual of Kharna was completed and the Prasad was taken. After eating the prasad of the fasting people, the phase of eating the prasad of neighbors and relatives besides the family started, which continued till late night. With this, the waterless fast of the devotees started for about 36 hours. The devotees will now break their fast by taking Prasad after offering Arghya to the rising Sun. On Sunday, Arghya will be offered to the setting sun. For this, the fasting person will take bath in the pond, river or dam and offer the first Arghya to the setting Lord Bhuvan Bhaskar in the evening.
Then on Monday morning we will descend to the ghats and worship God. Along with this, Arghya will be offered to the emerging Lord Bhaskar, with this the four-day Maha Chhath will be completed. Water from rivers and wells was used to make Kheer Prasad. Prasad was prepared for Kharna in a brass vessel using mango wood as fuel on the new stove. Kheer and roti were cooked for Prasad. As the evening approached, Chhath fasting people took Prasad amidst Chhath songs. There was a lot of excitement in the market here on Saturday. People remained busy purchasing puja materials, fruits and other items. Stalls of sugarcane, soup-daura, worship material etc. have been set up at various places in Gudri market of the city. There is an atmosphere of devotion and enthusiasm everywhere regarding Chhath. On Saturday, the second day of the four-day Chhath, the devotees kept fast for the whole day. In the evening, after going to Chhath Ghat and taking bath in rivers, ponds and reservoirs, after picking up sand and soil from the river and tying the ghat, offered prayers.
