39 From Odisha Killed In Triple Train Crash; CM Sanctions Rs 1.95 Cr As Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned Rs 1.95 crore to be given as ex-gratia to next of the kin of 39 identified passengers from Odisha, who died in the June 2 triple train accident in Balasore district. 

According to an official release, 39 of 278 passengers killed in the deadly train accident have so far been traced to seven districts of the state. Among them, 14 are from Balasore, 9 from Mayurbhanj, 8 from Bhadrak, 3 from Cuttack, 2 each from Jajpur and Khurda and one from Keonjhar.

The financial assistance will be given from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and the process of handing over the amount to the bereaved families has begun, according to an official release.

The CM had earlier announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the relatives of deceased from Odisha and Rs 1 lakh as assistance to those who suffered injuries.
