4 day International Lavi Fair begins, Governor inaugurates
Rampur. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the 4-day International Lavi Fair in Rampur Bushahr. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on this occasion. On this occasion, the Governor said that Lavi has become a commercial fair as well as a cultural festival of Himachal Pradesh. He said that Lavi fair has its own historical importance and is famous for its rich traditions along with trading activities. Paying tribute to former Chief Minister Late Virbhadra Singh, the Governor said that it was due to his efforts that Rampur Lavi Fair was given the status of International Lavi Fair in the year 1985. Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has given this fair an international shape.
The Governor said that 400 years ago a treaty was signed between the King of Tibet and the King of Rampur and two cultures have met. He said that it is a good thing that the products here are sold for 4 days. This fair starts on 11th November and ends on 14th November. The Governor appreciated the efforts of the organizers to carry forward the rich traditions of Lavi Mela. He said that the woolen textiles, dry fruits and other traditional crafts and products displayed in the fair are unique. Traditional artisans and farmers have got a great opportunity to sell their products in the fair.
Earlier, the Governor inaugurated the exhibitions organized by various departments at the fair grounds and showed keen interest in them. On this occasion, the Governor also unveiled the video teaser made by the fair committee for the International Lavi Fair-2023. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of International Lavi Fair Organizing Committee Aditya Negi also honored the Governor. In this program, folk dance groups of Shimla, Mandi and Sirmaur districts also gave grand cultural presentations. On this occasion, Rampur MLA Nandlal, District Council President Chandraprabha Negi, Additional District Magistrate Protocol Jyoti Rana and Sub Divisional Magistrate Rampur Nishant Tomar and other dignitaries were present.
