5 major accidents in 13 years… system has not improved
Kanpur. Train accidents happening around Kanpur are reminiscent of old accidents. In the last 13 years, Railways has become witness to 5 major accidents. After the accident, an investigation committee is formed. If the investigation continues for a long time, the matter remains confined to the Railways only. There is some strictness for a few days, after which everything returns to its old routine.
The cause of many accidents is not known till date. Railway officials say that the investigation conducted by the Railways is taken very seriously. Action is taken against the culprits and measures are also taken in the Railways on the basis of the investigation report. However, these accidents are not showing signs of stopping. This time even the railway administration is in shock due to two accidents one after the other.
gorakhdham express accident
Bhiwani-Gorakhpur-Gorakhdham Express met with an accident on 2 February 2010 near Panki station of Kanpur. 10 passengers died and more than 40 passengers were injured in this accident. The Railway Board has not disclosed the report of this train accident till date.
Report not made public
Ajmer-Sealdah Express met with an accident on 28 December 2016 near Rura station between Kanpur-Etawah. Two passengers died and more than two dozen passengers were injured in this accident. The investigation report of this accident was also not made public. Since the report was not made public, the common people could not get information about it.
People did not forget the accident
Kalka Express train met with an accident near Malwan station between Kanpur-Prayagraj. More than 70 passengers lost their lives in the accident that occurred on July 10, 2011. Apart from this, hundreds of passengers were injured. The investigation report of this train accident has also not been made public yet.
155 died
The train accident that took place on November 20, 2016 in Pukhrayan, Kanpur Dehat, still sends shivers down the spines of people. Indore-Rajendra Nagar Patna Express met with an accident in this accident. This accident was the biggest accident on the Delhi-Howrah route. 155 passengers died in the accident. More than 200 passengers were injured. The investigation report of this accident has also not been disclosed yet.
Conspiracy to derail train
On December 31, 2017, near Mandhana on the Kanpur Anwarganj-Farrukhabad route, a conspiracy was hatched to derail the train by cutting the track with a saw. RPF and the investigation team also recovered an iron cutting saw from the spot. The investigation reports of this case have also become extinct like other incidents.
The railway administration takes railway accidents seriously. A committee is formed for all railway accidents as per protocol. After the report came, action has also been taken against the culprits. 2.5 lakh compensation to two passengers, 50 thousand compensation to 10
Railways has given compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to two passengers injured in Darbhanga Clone Special Express and Vaishali Express and Rs 50 thousand each to 10 passengers. This compensation was provided by CMI Naresh Meena to the injured passengers.
Dayanand Mandal of Darbhanga and his son Raunak Raj, who were injured in the Clone Special train going from New Delhi to Darbhanga, have been given a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh. Payment of Rs 2 lakh each was made through RTGS and Rs 50 thousand each was provided in cash. Four other passengers of the same train were also given Rs 50,000 each in cash.
On the other hand, six passengers who were injured in the fire in Vaishali Express have also been given cash compensation of Rs 50 each. RPF ASI Sachin Tiwari was also present while giving payment to the injured passengers. Railways has also given compensation to the injured passengers admitted to Saifai Medical College and District Hospital. CMI said that other passengers injured in the train accident will also be given compensation 50-50.
