Ranchi. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has intensified its drive to clear government land of encroachments across the city. As part of this initiative, an RMC team conducted a special anti-encroachment drive on Friday on government land situated near Karamtoli Pond. The administration is continuously identifying areas where complaints of illegal construction or encroachment on government land are surfacing. Based on this, encroachment removal operations are being conducted in a phased manner.

Officials noted that illegal encroachment on government land hinders city development projects. Often, land becomes unavailable for road expansion, drainage systems, parks, public amenities, and other schemes. Consequently, removing encroachments becomes essential to accelerate the city’s development.

Karamtoli Pond is located in a key area of the city. The surrounding government land could be utilized for public welfare projects in the future. The RMC aims to safeguard such land to ensure better facilities for the city’s residents.

The municipal administration has appealed to the public not to encroach upon government land and to cooperate in the city’s development.

According to municipal officials, the anti-encroachment drive will not be limited to a single location; action against illegal encroachments on government land, roadsides, and public spaces will continue in other parts of the city as well. A systematic campaign will be conducted in coordination with the relevant departments.

Rising encroachment in the city impacts traffic management, cleanliness, and civic amenities. Residents in several areas face difficulties due to illegal roadside constructions and temporary shops. The municipal administration maintains that the objective of removing encroachments is not to harass anyone but to improve the city’s orderliness.

Local residents have welcomed this move by the municipal corporation. They believe that keeping government land free from encroachment will facilitate better area development and ensure the safety of public spaces.
