7 accused who assaulted SCEL employee arrested
Korea. Police has arrested seven accused in the case of theft of copper wire, iron angle and other items by attacking SECL guards in Charcha East mine of Koriya district. The accused had cut the live line wire with weapons. Stones were pelted at the guards when they tried to stop them from theft. Three of the arrested accused are minors. According to the information, on the night of April 2, villagers armed with weapons entered the storage area of Charcha East mine. They started taking out the items kept in the store. When SECL guard Rajkumar Sahu along with his colleagues arrived to stop the thieves, the villagers who were stealing started throwing stones at them. While pelting stones at the security personnel, they cut the wires of the live line and stole the iron channel by cutting it with a sharp weapon.
SECL security personnel also suffered injuries on their heads, legs and chest due to stone pelting by the accused. The incident was reported at Charcha police station on 03 April. SP Korea Suraj Singh Parihar formed a special team to arrest the accused. Police arrested the accused Sunil Kumar, Purshottam alias Golar, Mangalram alias Golu, Sudesh alias Suman and 03 other minors involved in the theft. Copper wire, iron channel and other items and weapons stolen by the accused were seized. Sections 458, 380, 332, 186, 353, 120B IPC against the accused. And action was taken under 25, 27 Arms Act. During interrogation, two minors admitted to committing theft from Sujay Jain’s grocery shop on the night of 28 February 2024. All the accused were presented in the court, from where the accused were sent to District Jail Baikunthpur and the minors were sent to Observation Home Ambikapur. The other three accused of theft are still absconding. The team of police station in-charge Anil Kindo, SI Abdul Munaf, Baleshwar Mahanadi, ASI Polycorp Toppo remained active in the action.
