7-year-old boy murdered near Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai, tension in the area

Tamil Nadu: A commotion erupted Monday morning near Madurai’s famous Meenakshi Amman Temple after a 7-year-old boy was murdered. The incident is believed to be the result of an old feud. Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area, and a crowd of locals gathered at the scene. Police immediately took action, registered a case, and launched a search for the accused.
According to reports, a group of five people led by Muthumani arrived at a commercial complex near Madurai’s Meenakshi Amman Temple on Monday morning. A child named Kupendran was reportedly sleeping there. The accused attacked and killed him. They then threw the child’s body from the first floor of the building and fled the scene.
Upon learning of the incident, locals rushed to the scene and informed the police. A police team immediately arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to the Madurai Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have cordoned off the entire area and launched an investigation, and are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the accused and trace their escape route.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder may be linked to an earlier clash during the Chithirai festival. It is reported that there have been previous disputes and tensions between the two parties, which may have led to this incident. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed this and are investigating all aspects.
According to the police, efforts are being made to identify all the accused involved in the incident and special teams have been formed to arrest them soon. Security has been increased in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
