Fire breaks out in empty BEST bus in Mumbai
MUMBAI: A fire broke out in an empty BEST bus in Mumbai’s south Saturday morning and was extinguished after 10 minutes, officials said. Nadi carried out the incident.
The conductor and inspector were present in the bus when the fire broke out near the right rear tire of the bus at around 8:20 pm. The vehicle, which was going from Santa Cruz Depot towards Electric House, was found at the same time near the high stairs of JJ.
The bus belonged to the Santa Cruz depot of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, a BEST official said.
The bus personnel alerted the fire brigade personnel and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, he said.
Meanwhile, a level one fire was reported at Asmi Industrial Polygon near Mrinal Tai Gor Bridge in Goregaon (West), requiring deployment of at least four units of firefighters. I was confined to three or four locked units on the third floor of a six-storey building, a civic official said.
Seven bomber trucks and two tank trucks were dispatched to the scene to douse the fire, although there were no reports of any casualties, the official said.
