Illegal cricket betting racket busted in Porvorim, four arrested
Panjim: Porvorim police arrested four people and seized several equipment worth Rs 1.5 lakh for allegedly being involved in illegal online cricket betting.
According to Porvorim private investigator Rahul Parab, in the last hours of the night of December 9, he received information that illegal online cricket betting was being conducted in a house in Socorro. As a result, a team was formed and they raided Socorro’s house in Kamat Nagar.
During the raid, they seized local portable computers and mobile phones used to accept bets on various cricket leagues, worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as 24-year-old Tejeshwar Rao, residents of Durg-Chhattisgarh, 23-year-old Gagan Kumar Suman and 25-year-old Karan Pal, both residents of Madhya Pradesh, and 21-year-old Mukesh Kumar Jat, Rajasthan. ,
All the accused were arrested under sections 3 and 4 of the Public Law Goa Daman and Diu.
