Army soldier dies in road accident
Karnal. Army soldier died in a road accident in Karnal. He was cremated with state honors in village Mund on Sunday. The elderly father lit the torch for his son. Gaurav (25) was the only brother of two sisters. They got married only 9 months ago. Gaurav’s father Balwan told that after giving the exam on Saturday, Gaurav was going to his house in Kutel with his maternal uncle’s son Himanshu. Himamashu was driving the car and Gaurav was sitting on the side. At around 8 pm, a Punjab Roadways bus hit the car near Namaste Chowk flyover. After the incident, the driver left the bus on the spot and ran away.
Passersby pulled Gaurav and Himanshu out of the car and took them to the hospital for treatment. There the doctors referred Gaurav to Chandigarh PGI, where he died during treatment. Father Balwan told that Gaurav had joined the army 6 years ago in 2017. His training took place in Secunderabad for 3 years. After this he got posting in Jhansi. He was posted in Leh Ladakh only three months ago. He had to appear for his promotion exam. Last Monday, he came to Karnal on a month’s leave to appear for his BA exam. Gaurav got married only 9 months ago. Gaurav has two sisters. After joining the army, the entire responsibility of the house was on his shoulders.
