UP Police attached the house of Atiq Ahmed’s sister in Meerut

Meerut: The house of Ayesha Noori, sister of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed and her husband Akhlaq, accused in the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal, has been seized by the police here, an officer said on Monday. Pal, the main witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was gunned down in broad daylight in Prayagraj on 24 February. After his murder, the police registered a case against Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, his family members and other persons based on the complaint of Pal’s wife. On Saturday, the team of Dhumanganj Police Commissionerate of Prayagraj searched two plants of Noori and Akhlaq in Bhavani Nagar locality of Nauchandi, in which they found expensive items missing. Nauchandi Inspector Subodh Saxena said that during the arrest, they found a refrigerator, a washing machine, an old sofa and some utensils in the house which were worth around one lakh and this was mentioned in the daily routine of the police. He told that Guddu Muslim, the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, stayed in this house after the murder and he also got financial help from Akhlaq. Akhlaq was arrested by the Grupo de Trabajo Especial on 2 April, while Nouri was still on trial. The asset freeze was imposed by judicial order, Saxena said. On April 15, Ahmed, who is also an accused in the 2005 murder case, and Ashraf were shot by three men who were passing by journalists while policemen were taking them to a medical school in Prayagraj. Check. Although Ahmed’s wife Shahista Praveen continued to fight, her son was killed in an encounter on 13 April.
