New Delhi: Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, raised the issue of outstanding funds in Parliament and demanded that the Central government immediately “release the outstanding Rs 8,000 crore to Punjab”.
Addressing Parliament, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sanjeev Pathak said, “The central government has withheld about Rs 8,000 crore of Punjab’s entitlement, which includes RDF, National Health Mission, IMF and special assistance fund to Punjab. Speaking to ANI, Pathak said, “The central government has blocked funds worth Rs 8000 crore for the development of Punjab… If we raise every issue in the Supreme Court, then how will the federal structure of our country work.”
“The country will progress only when politics is kept aside in such matters,” he said.
Pathak further emphasized that “Punjab plays an integral role in providing food grains to the country and also guards India’s border with Pakistan, it would be injustice to treat the people of Punjab unfairly.”
