Ujjain: A silver crown was offered to Mahakal during the Bhasma Aarti on Tuesday morning in the Mahakaleshwar temple. Bhasma Aarti (offering of ashes) is a famous ritual performed at the iconic temple.
This is done in Brahma Muhurta between 4 to 5.30 in the morning.
Mahakaleshwar Temple is a popular Hindu temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, considered to be the most sacred abodes of the deity. Bhasma Aarti of Lord Shiva is performed only in Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain.
This aarti is performed at 4 in the morning with fresh ashes of the pyre.
This temple is situated on the banks of Shipra River in the ancient city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
