It is becoming dangerous to breathe in the capital, AQI in ‘very bad’ category

New Delhi: According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall air quality in the national capital remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday.

According to the CPCB, the AQI at IGI airport (T3) was recorded at 355 in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday morning. The AQI in New Moti Bagh area was recorded at 368 in the ‘very poor’ category at 8 am. The air quality in Punjabi Bagh was recorded at 397 in the ‘very poor’ category at 8 am on Wednesday.

According to data shared by CPCB, the AQI at ITO was recorded at 400 in the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday morning. Also, according to the CPCB, the AQI in Anand Vihar area was recorded at 415 in the ‘severe’ category at 8 am. Meanwhile, the AQI in Ashok Vihar area was recorded at 412 in the ‘severe’ category at 8 am on Wednesday. The air quality in Narela dropped from ‘very poor’ 339 at 8 am on Tuesday to ‘severe’ category at 408 on Wednesday.

According to data shared by CPCB, the AQI at 8 am in RK Puram area was recorded at 356 in the ‘very poor’ category, while Anand Vihar recorded 365.

Moreover, according to CPCB, the AQI at ITO was also recorded in the ‘very poor’ category at 335 on Tuesday morning. Visuals on Tuesday showed a thick layer of fog over the iconic India Gate, significantly reducing visibility.

Meanwhile, the AQI in Ashok Vihar area was also recorded in the ‘very poor’ category at 298 at 8 am on Tuesday, marginally lower than 365 a day earlier. The air quality in Narela also fell from ‘poor’ 300 at 8 am on Monday to ‘very poor’ i.e. 339 on Tuesday.

Earlier on Monday, the overall air quality index in the national capital was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category, CPCB said.

The air quality in the city has been ranging from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ for the last few weeks.

The air quality index ranges from 0 to 100 as ‘good’, 100 to 200 as ‘moderate’, 200 to 300 as ‘poor’, 300 to 400 as ‘very poor’ and 400 to 500 or above is considered as ‘severe’.
