240 silver coins found during the excavation of the house
Damoh (IANS) | During the ongoing excavation for the construction of a house in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, 240 coins of British era have been found. These coins are about 136 years old. Later the laborer handed over these coins to the police. According to the information received from the police, the work of digging for the construction of a house was going on in the Kotwali police station area, during this time laborer Halke Ahirwar found coins from the spot, he took the coins to his home but he could not sleep the whole night. Eventually he decided to hand over these coins to the police.
Kotwali police station in-charge Vijay Rajput told reporters that Halke Ahirwar, a resident of Badapura area, handed over the coins to the police. He has told that during the excavation of the house on Tuesday, he found these coins in a pot. First he took him home but later handed him over to the police.
According to the police, these coins belong to the reign of Queen Victoria and the market value of each coin has been estimated at more than eight hundred rupees. The police is engaged in the investigation of the matter.
