Maina-Kurtorim land grabbing case likely to be transferred to SIT
Margao: The land scam case, where a couple is accused of committing a fraud of Rs 2.20 crore by selling land to Jeet Jain in 2017 using forged documents, is expected to be transferred to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The Maina-Curtorim police, which initially registered the case, has sent a note to senior police officials suggesting that due to the nature of the case involving land grabbing, it be handed over to the government-appointed SIT for investigation. Needed
The alleged accused in the case have been identified as Agnelo D’Souza and Maclin Perera E.D’Souza, residents of Nagavado, Betalbatim. Police have registered an offense against him on December 7 under sections 406, 420, 465, 474 read with section 34 of the IPC.
According to the complaint, the accused, with common intention, forged documents relating to a property bearing survey number 229/2 situated at Beloy, Nuvem. They allegedly presented these forged documents to complainant Jeet Jain to induce him to purchase the property.
The accused obtained a sum of Rs 2.2 crore from the complainant, defrauded him through the use of fake property documents and entered into an agreement with dishonest intentions to commit fraud.
