Highway burnt to ashes, major accident due to short circuit
Rajnandgaon. A highway cabin was gutted due to a short-circuit fire in the city’s Mohara Bypass in the early hours of Monday. There has been damage due to fire in other parts of the highway also. Basantapur police is investigating the matter.
According to the information received, around 3-4 am on Monday, suddenly smoke started rising from the highway going towards Nagpur after filling sand from Dhamtari in Mohara-Bypass. The driver feared something untoward and when he got down from the vehicle, a fire broke out. Within no time the fire spread in the cabin and the front part including the engine was burnt to ashes. Here, the back portion filled with sand has also been damaged by fire. According to Basantpur police station in-charge Vijay Mishra, the incident is being investigated based on the statement of the driver. Prima facie the matter is related to short-circuit. Further action will be taken after investigation.
