Fake notes seized, one arrested
Mangaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a person for possessing fake currency notes and trying to circulate them in the city, police sources said. The accused has been identified as Prasvit (25), resident of Manjeshwar.
The fake notes seized were of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500. Sources said that preliminary investigation has revealed that till now the accused has circulated fake notes worth around Rs 8,000 to Rs 9,000 in Kankanadi area.
Police seized three fake notes of Rs 500, two of Rs 200 and three of Rs 100 and a mobile phone handset from the accused.
Police have seized a total of 8 fake notes worth Rs 2,200, a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000 and 35 genuine notes worth Rs 4,250 from the accused. The property of the accused was searched.
Sources said the operation was conducted under the direction of Mangaluru CCB Unit ACP PA Hegde.
