IPL Auction 2024: Mitchell Starc overtakes Pat Cummins to become the most expensive player in IPL history
Dubai: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), surpassing Pat Cummins. In the ongoing IPL 2024 auction in Dubai, this player was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 lakh.
Earlier, Australia’s World Cup winning captain Pat Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore. India’s Harshal Patel has been bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 11.75 crore.
By the end of the second round of the auction, players including Daryl Mitchell (Rs 14 crore), Shradul Thakur (Rs 4 crore) and Rachin Ravindra (Rs 1.8 crore) have been bought by Chennai Super Kings so far. Harry Brook has been bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore.
Punjab Kings have bought Harshal Patel for Rs 11.75 crore and Chris Woakes for Rs 4.20 crore. At the same time, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has been bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 50 lakh. Mumbai Indians have so far bought Gerald Coetzee for Rs 5 crore. Rovman Powell has been bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.4 crore.
However, players including Riley Rossouw, Karun Nair, Steven Smith and Manish Pander remained unsold in the first set of IPL 2024 auctions.
