Indore: Two arrested for stealing gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh
Indore: Two people were arrested for stealing gold and silver jewelery worth lakhs of rupees from a locked house in Chandan Nagar late on Saturday night.
The owner of the house had gone to attend a wedding ceremony with his family members when thieves entered the house and ran away with valuables. He committed the theft within 45 minutes. The police have claimed to arrest the accused within three hours of registering the FIR.
According to the police, Zakir Hussain, a resident of Diamond Palace Colony, has lodged a complaint that he along with his family members had gone to Green Park Colony at around 10 pm to attend a wedding ceremony. When they returned home around 10.45 pm, they found the lock of the house broken and valuables missing from the cupboard. Hussain immediately informed the police.
Police inspected the spot, registered a case and formed a team to search for the accused. Police scanned the CCTV of the area and collected information about the suspects from the spot.
Police were searching for the accused when they received information that two suspects had been seen in the area planning to sell stolen gold and silver jewellery. Police reached the said location and caught the accused, identified as Rahul Barmunda and Shakeel alias Bablu, both of Diamond Palace Colony.
Police have recovered a gold necklace, three gold rings, two gold pendants, two gold bangles and some silver jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh from the accused. The accused are being interrogated further.
