Mumbai: Man throws smoke on woman’s face, kills her father
Mumbai: A Bandra resident was stabbed to death at 11.45 pm on Wednesday when he protested against a group of people blowing cigarette smoke on his daughter’s face at a store.
The victim Shafi Fernandes, his wife Gian and their 25-year-old daughter were at Tony’s shop on Chapel Road when the accused Mohammed Shaikh, 23, and his three friends arrived there.
Shaikh allegedly deliberately blew smoke towards the couple’s daughter. This led to a heated argument and Shaikh allegedly stabbed Fernandes with a knife. His wife and daughter took him to Bhabha Hospital, where he was declared dead. “Shaikh was arrested from his residence in JJ Colony in Bandra, while others are on the run,” police inspector Pradeep Karkare said.
A case of murder, criminal intimidation, outraging the modesty of a woman, carrying prohibited weapons and disturbing peace has been registered against him.
