Awaiting announcement of final decision on Ramlala’s statue in Ayodhya
Ayodhya: The Board of Trustees of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has examined all three idols of Ram Lala and submitted its opinion in writing to the Trust. The Trust has not yet taken a final decision on the selection of the statue.
Ram temple construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra was among the 11 members of the trust’s board of trustees who examined the three idols. All of them spent about half an hour each with the three sculptors and also talked to them. After this he submitted his written opinion to Trust General Secretary Champat Rai.
Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri said, “The idols were examined by the members after which they submitted their opinion in writing. The final decision will be taken by trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.”

“All three statues are beautiful and it would be difficult to select one for the consecration ceremony,” Giri said.
The trust did not announce any date for finalizing the statue. One of the three idols will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram temple. The remaining two will be kept on the first and second floors of the temple.
Apart from famous sculptors Ganesh Bhatt and Arun Yogiraj of Karnataka, Satya Narayan Pandey of Rajasthan has carved three statues of Ramlala.
Sculptors from Karnataka have used black stones while sculptors from Rajasthan have used white Makrana marble.
The sculptures of Ram Lalla are based on the sketches submitted to the Trust by renowned Mumbai artist Vasudev Kamath.
Trust member Kameshwar Chaupal said, “The 51-inch statue of Ram Lalla, which is closest to the god aesthetically, will be selected.”
“The trust will select the idol and make a formal announcement about it soon. But it will reveal the finally selected idol before the people of Ayodhya in a Shobha Yatra on January 17 before placing it in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple.” Trust members.
According to people familiar with the selection process, the Trust has almost finalized the statue of Ramlala.
A member of the trust said, “Probably, two idols of Ram Lalla made from black stones of Karnataka have emerged as favorites among the trust. It is from these two that the idol of Ram Lalla will be selected.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform rituals in the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla on January 22 next year. The rituals will start from January 16.
