Telangana: Ayyappa devotee injured in fight with atheist Barry Naresh, police investigating the incident
Warangal: An Ayyappa devotee suffered a fracture in his leg after being hit by a vehicle in Eturu Nagaram town on Monday morning in which Barry Nagesh, a renowned atheist, was travelling. Tension escalated in the peaceful town after a verbal duel broke out between Ayyappa devotees and Barry Naresh, who had visited the town on the invitation of a meeting of atheists.
Barry Naresh came into limelight last year after his alleged controversial remarks against Ayyappa devotees.
Reports say Ayyappa devotees gathered at the venue and an argument broke out between them and Naresh and when Naresh tried to leave the place in his vehicle a scuffle broke out, leaving one devotee P Narasimha Rao suffering a fracture . Angered by the incident, the devotees started chasing Naresh’s vehicle, which was racing towards Mangapet town. As the chase continued, Naresh’s vehicle went off the road and Naresh fled from the spot.
Later, Ayyappa devotees lodged a complaint with the police, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
