Section 144 imposed in Collectorate premises
Bemetara. Collector and District Magistrate P.S.Elma has issued an order yesterday and has implemented Section 144 within a radius of 100 meters of the Joint District Office premises. It has been said in the order that Food Branch, Tribal Development Department, Agriculture Department, Excise Department, Mineral Department etc. are functioning in the Joint District Office premises, where there is movement of disabled people, elderly people and women.
Due to processions, protests and demonstrations in the Joint District Office premises, disabled people, elderly people and women have to face problems and government work gets affected. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain peace, law and order and security around the radius of 100 meters of the Joint District Office premises, so that the government work can be completed smoothly. For this, it is necessary that organizing processions, protests, meetings and demonstrations etc. in the above area should be stopped. This order will be applicable to all types of parties, organizations, associations and common people and will be effective from 28 December 2023 to 28 February 2024 (02 months).
The Collector has said in his issued order that this is a sensitive area, around which it is necessary to stop processions, dharnas, public meetings and demonstrations to maintain public peace. Due to which, to maintain public peace, it is necessary to ban processions, dharnas, public meetings and demonstrations in the above areas. Considering the seriousness of the situation on the basis of sufficient evidence, this order is being passed unilaterally due to lack of sufficient time to serve the information and listen to the persons affected by this order.
Using the powers given in Section 144, Collector and District Magistrate Elma has banned processions, picketing, public meetings and demonstrations within a radius of 100 meters of the Joint District Office premises located in Bemetra Nagar. During this period, except the policeman/security personnel on duty, no person or group of persons, even if they are licensed, will carry any kind of explosive substance, weapon, lethal weapon etc. This order will not be effective on sabers etc. kept as per religious tradition.
Before holding various meetings, rallies, processions, etc., it will be necessary to take permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate of the concerned area. It will be necessary to give complete details in the application form including the place, date and time of meetings, rallies, processions etc. Not more than 5 persons will enter together within 100 meters of the office premises. This order will be applicable to all types of parties, organizations, associations and general public. Action will be taken against the persons violating this order under section 188.
