Gujarat: Asia’s largest non-metro marathon organized

Vadodara: The streets of Vadodara city were filled with Barodians despite the cold winds to participate in the 11th edition of MG Vadodara International Marathon (VM) on Sunday morning. The marathon, which has been organized for over a decade, has now become the largest marathon in a non-metropolitan city in Asia.

More than one lakh 30 thousand people participated in this marathon and the streets of Vadodara were packed with people in the morning. Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi flagged off the marathon. Kerala Story fame film actress Ada Sharma also came to the marathon and encouraged the people.

Full, half and quarter marathons and other races, starting at 4:30 am, include Asia’s largest non-marathon.” More than 21,000 people performed Tadasana together and created a world record. The record created in Vadodara comes when Yoga has gained global recognition due to the efforts of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Vadodara Marathon has grown from a small event in 2009.

Volunteer efforts, students, cooperation of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Police Department, Gujarat Government and special efforts of Modi ji have given immense support for this. I also thank the media for their contribution and support”, Tejal Amin, Chairperson, VM, further said. “When we started Vadodara Marathon in 2009, I had no idea that it would become so big. The people of Vadodara supported us and made it possible to put Vadodara Marathon on the international map. Our partnership is growing with each passing year.” ,
