Muslim community delegation made this request to PM Modi
New Delhi: BJP Minority Morcha leaders and other religious leaders from the Muslim community discussed setting up Sufi circuits in the country with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their recent meeting. Prime Minister’s residence in the national capital, sources said.
Sources further said that Prime Minister Modi welcomed the idea and asked the leaders to sit with the Union Minority Affairs Minister in this regard.
Sources said, “When Muslim religious leaders asked the Prime Minister to set up a Sufi circuit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is a good idea and the leaders should sit with the Minority Affairs Minister and make a detailed plan in this regard.”
According to sources, the first meeting regarding Sufi circuit can be held with Union Minority Minister Smriti Irani and Muslim religious leaders in the month of February.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a ‘chadar’ which will be offered at Ajmer Sharif Dargah on the 812th Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. A chadar was presented to Jamal Siddiqui, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha, at the Prime Minister’s residence in the national capital.
The delegation will go to Ajmer and offer a chadar on behalf of PM Modi. Urs Utsav is an annual festival held in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to commemorate the death anniversary of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti.
On this occasion, Union Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani, Syed Farid Nizami (Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah), Salman Chishti (Ajmer Sharif), party’s national vice president Tariq Mansoor, Delhi Haj Committee Chairman Kausar Jahan and Sufi Hazrat from Nagpur, Ahmedabad Jammu.
