Delhi HC will soon hear the defamation case filed against MS Dhoni by his former business partner.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday listed for January 29 the hearing of the defamation suit filed against former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni by his ex-business partners and asked the registry and the plaintiff to inform the cricketer. And others about the suit.
A bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh heard the case and directed that notice of the filing of the suit be given to the cricketer and the concerned law firm representing him. MS Dhoni’s former business partner and plaintiff Mihir Diwakar and his wife Soumya Das have filed a suit seeking a direction to restrain MS Dhoni from publishing any defamatory and malicious statements against them, alleging that both Has illegally received Rs 15 crore from the cricketer. ,
The suit states that the plaintiffs are well-respected businessmen with impeccable reputations and are highly respected by their contemporaries and industry peers. The plaintiff has a spotless, unblemished and impeccable reputation of being an honest and upright citizen.
Furthermore, plaintiff Mihit Diwakar has a reputation as a player, having represented the country at the international level as he has played 39 first-class games between 1999 and 2009. He was also part of India’s squad for the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The lawsuit stated that the defendant, MS Dhoni, was a close friend and business partner of the plaintiff; However, recently, some disputes regarding the MoU and authorization letter dated May 17, 2017 resulted in a misunderstanding in their friendship.
Furthermore, as a result of the said controversy, MS Dhoni issued a legal notice on February 4. , 2023, the plaintiffs alleged that they breached the agreement between the parties.
It is noteworthy that there is no allegation of fraud of Rs. As stated in the suit, a claim of Rs 15 crore was made by the defendant in the said legal notice against the plaintiff.
The said legal notice dated 04.02.2023 was also suitably replied to by the plaintiffs through their reply notice dated 02.03.2023. Now, the defendant MS Dhoni, through the power of attorney holder Seemant Lohani, has filed a complaint dated October 27, 2023, before the court of Judicial Magistrate, Ranchi in Jharkhand, wherein the plaintiff party has been accused as accused and It is claimed that the plaintiff has defrauded the defendant of Rs. 15 crores.
The above allegations have been made without any basis or evidence, the sole purpose of which is to malign and tarnish the reputation of the plaintiff party.
The allegations made against the plaintiff are baseless, false, baseless, vindictive, malicious and baseless. This is the first time that the defendant has claimed such an amount against the plaintiff. As stated in the suit, the allegations made by the defendant against the plaintiff are defamatory, prima facie false and without any basis.
