Ram Mandir Abhishek: Goa casinos will remain closed for 8 hours on January 22
PANAJI: All casinos in Goa will remain closed for eight hours from 8am on Monday in honor of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, an official of the casino management company confirmed on Sunday.
Goa hosts six offshore casinos and several onshore casinos. Offshore casino ships are moored in the Mandovi River near Panaji.
The decision has been taken to suspend operations of all casinos from 8 am to 4 pm on Monday, according to the announcement by Srinivas Nayak, director of Majestic Pride Group, which operates many of these casinos.
He commented, “Given that others are closing their businesses and holidays have been declared for all to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event, why shouldn’t we?”
The Goa government has already declared a holiday on Monday for all government, semi-government and autonomous bodies to commemorate the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
