Raipur. Chhattisgarh Sikh Officers Welfare Association celebrated the festival of Lohri with family members at Ahuja Farm House, Muzgahan on Saturday. On this occasion B.S. Bombara and all the other members lit the fire of Lohri and offered sesame laddus, rewadis, jaggery, chivda and popcorn to the fire and wished for the happiness of the family and relatives. Lohri festival holds a special significance for Punjabis. In the house where a new marriage has taken place, along with wishing happiness for the new daughter-in-law and the newly born children in the family, the family members and neighbors are especially congratulated on Lohri, in which sesame laddus, revadiyan, jaggery, chivda and poparkan are offered. are distributed. This festival is also celebrated to protect and honor sisters and daughters. There is a historical story behind Lohri which is known as Dulla Bhatti. During the reign of Akbar, Dulla Bhatti was the Sardar of Punjab province who was also known as the Hero of Punjab. In those days, girls were bought and sold in Sandalbar, Pakistan. Which Dulla Bhatti strongly opposed and saved the girls and gave them a new life by marrying them honorably. This victory of Dulla Bhatti is also remembered in the songs of Lohri and Dulla Bhatti is remembered.
