CHANDIGARH: Panchkula will get its second fire station

Haryana Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta today inaugurated two projects and laid the foundation stone of two others at the PWD Rest House in Sector 1 here.

Gupta inaugurated the new teaching block at Government Polytechnic College, Morni constructed at a cost of Rs 7.98 crore and a three-storey building at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Bataur village constructed at a cost of Rs 3.07 crore.

He laid the foundation stone of the new bridge over Nandana Chowk in Sector 25 to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore and the fire station to be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.52 crore in Sector 5-B Mansa Devi Complex. Gupta said the bridge will connect the two parts of Sector 25. “The construction of the 52.25 meter bridge is expected to be completed in the next 18 months,” he said.

At present, there is only one fire station in the city to deal with fire incidents, which is located in Sector 5.

Gupta also inaugurated a rural pond in Nanakpur village of Pinjore. The pond has been built under Amrit Sarovar Mission at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.
