Preparations begin to make Ramsar site wetland plastic free

Nahan. A campaign has been started to make Sri Renukaji, the first big natural lake of the state included in the International Ramsar Site Wetland, plastic free. The Wildlife Department has prepared a plan to eradicate the silt in the lake and the rapidly spreading Kalabansa weed here. For which efforts have already started locally.

Not only this, Sri Renukaji has religious and historical importance. In view of the abundance of bio-dry soil here, a team of nature educators and guides is also being prepared in Renukaji. So that apart from the animals present here, the naturally occurring creatures can also be identified to the tourists, nature lovers and visitors.

In the Ramsar Site Wetland, young IFS officer Guruharsh Singh, who is currently holding the responsibility of Range Officer in the Wildlife Department under probationary service, has worked for the comprehensive conservation of the wetland in Renukaji Wild Life Area in collaboration with the local bodies, District Administration, Renukaji Development Board, here. Initiative has been started to identify and make Sri Renukaji plastic free.

to deal with this, the Indian Forest Service officer has started the Seva Shramdaan scheme with the local Mahila Mandal and youth. In which a plan is also being prepared to collect the plastic and separate it properly. Eco bricks are also being prepared for plastic disposal. So that the waste prepared in plastic bottles can be used in the construction of landscaping, benches etc. Not only this, local youth are being trained as nature guides and nature educators for ten days from two local panchayats to get self-employment under wetland and eco-tourism. Not only this, Indian Forest Service officer Gurharsh Singh said that Renukaji International Wetland along with Mini Zoo, Natural Lake is an important place from the point of view of natural environment. The importance of wetlands will also be publicized through photography and social media.
