AP: Four year old girl raped in Anganwadi center, search continues to nab the accused
Cuddapah: In a shocking incident, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 55-year-old man at an Anganwadi center in Galiveedu mandal of Annamayya district on Monday.
According to the police and the girl’s family members, Anganwadi teacher Subba Lakshmi had gone out for personal work and left her relative K Reddaiah in charge of the mini centre. Police said that the girl was alone in the center at that time. Taking advantage of the situation, Reddaiah allegedly raped her. Later the girl told her parents about the incident. They immediately reached the residence of the accused, but found that he had already fled.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Galiveedu police on Tuesday and demanded action against Reddaiah as well as the Anganwadi teacher. Police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
They shifted the girl to Rayachoti Government Hospital for medical examination. Raichoti Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehboob Basha said, a search operation has been launched to nab the accused.
Lakkireddipalli Child Development Project Officer Padmavatamma said she has informed higher authorities about Subba Lakshmi’s alleged negligence so that further action can be taken.
