Carpenter murdered with paver block, 3 arrested
Mumbai: Sakinaka police arrested three people within six hours after the murder of a 22-year-old carpenter in Sakinaka on Sunday. The case was registered late on Sunday night and the accused were arrested on Monday. The victim, Mohammad Suhaib, resident of Kolhapur Estate, Yadav Nagar Khairani Road, was attacked with a paver block near SJ Studio on February 11 at 2.41 pm.

Police inspector Pankaj Pardesh said, “The accused Anas Shaikh, 21, Gulfaraz Khan, 25 and Afzal Sayyed, 24, residents of Sakinaka, were arrested at 3.33 am on Monday. “A fight broke out between Suheb and the accused when they were passing by and Suheb accidentally brushed against them.”
He said that the dispute escalated into a fight. The accused attacked him with a paver block and took off, leaving Suheb unconscious on the road. People nearby gathered, but no one initially admitted him to the hospital. After this people took Suheb to Paramount Hospital.
According to the victim’s brother Saddam Ansari, Suhaib had gone out to bring food. When he did not return for more than two hours, Saddam contacted him and Suhaib said he would be home within 20 minutes. Soon, Saddam received a call from his cousin, who sent a photograph via WhatsApp, revealing serious injuries on Suhaib’s head. On reaching the hospital, Saddam came to know that Suhaib had been declared dead by the doctor. The FIR was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
